General Dog Park Rules and Tips

Dog parks or dog runs are designated areas where your dog can play and exercise off leash. They are a valuable addition to any community as they provides an opportunity for your dog to be healthy and learn to socialize with other dogs and people. However, for the safety of others, here a few simple tips to follow when you take your dog to a dog park.

1. Always keep your dog on a leash when entering or exiting a dog park. Your dog should always be under your voice control and be in your sight. Make sure you are carrying a leash with you at all times and do not leave the area without your dog.

2. Always keep your dogs vacciantions current. Most dog parks require dog licenses and your dog should wear an ID tag at all times.

3. Do not bring dogs with aggressive behavior. If dogs shows unpredicatable behavior around other dogs and strangers, leash your dog and leave the area.

4. Your dogs should be spayed and neutered. Do not bring females in heat.

5. Most dog parks require that you should not bring puppies under 4 months or young children to an off-leash area.

6. Do not bring food to a dog park. Check your local park's rules if training treats are allowed.

7. As a courtesy to others and for your own dog's benefit, keep your park clean and beautiful. Pick up after your dog and fill any holes dug by dogs under your control.
